When the All-White National party comes into power in 1948, then wanted to start an Apartheid. Which is a split between the Whites, and the South Africans. A few of the laws they put in place is that the Africans could no longer Marry outside their own race, Choose where they live or, travel where the liked etc. They dealt with this problem with creating the African National Congress which resisted forms of Apartheid. Finally in 1982 the United Nations condemned the Apartheid system. In India there was a dyarchy system were Indians controlled health and education, while the British controlled finance and law and order. Once again leaders try to rid of these systems i.e Gandhi who lead the protest of pacifism, and in 1930 India declared Independence.

Both movements eventually fizzled out after a couple of decades because not a lot of their needs were met. In the 1950's there was still a major divide between the whites and blacks, blacks still did not posse the same freedom rights as the whites did. In 1954 the supreme court desegregated schools. JFK spoke about blacks being getting there freedom was shortly coming. This is when MLK step in, and got the support of the black community all around America. It was similar with the women's right movements. In modern day age in Canada women have the same amount of opportunities and rights as men do. There are still countries where this isn't case but, there making major progress and people are still fighting for women's rights around the world.

The United Nations has been successful by creating organizations such as the FAO, WHO, ILO ,IMF, UNESCO , and finally UNICEF.The United Nations is an organization composed of 192 countries that aims to bring all nations together to rid violence, and promote peace throughout the globe. The United Nations, could definitely do a better job of this. The charter was signed in 1945 just after WWII, and since then we have seen major peace disturbers in countries. It's defiantly not an easy job the UN has but I believe they are slowly gaining more, and more support throughout the world.
