Enemy Of The Gates
Summary
Enemy of the Gates is a film shot when world World War II was transpiring. Although the film was made in 2001, the general idea of the film is a Russian sniper playing cat and mouse with a another sniper on the germans side during the battle of Stalingrad. This battle leaving the city of Stalingrad in ruins, Vassili Zaitsev stalks the Germans taking them out one by one. His friend officer Danilov uses Vassili to remind people that there is still hope. Both men end up liking the same women Tanya who is a female solider. She choices Vassili, and unfortunately his friend Danilov ends up sacrificing his life, helping Vassili kill the Germans master sniper Konig. In the end Vassili and Tanya end up together, and the Russians win the War. Overall it was a descent and I think it was a great way to start the Russian.
Difference between Oct/Nov Revolution and the Feb/Mar
The difference between the two revolutions was that the February to march battle objective was to take out the tsar and becoming a provisional government. The people who were fed up with the war started to create riots and strikes. Soon the tsar stepped down without any real problems, and was exiled into Switzerland. The provisional government leader was Prince Lov who was soon replaced by Alexander Kerensky. The provisional government wanted to keep Russia in the War, which lead them to become very unpopular with the people. The october revolution was aimed to cease and conquer Petrograd. The Bolsheviks were the defenders of Petrograd lead by Trotsky, and resulted in a bloodless battle. Winter palace was defended by the Cossacks.
Describe the challenges Lenin faced immediately after the Russia Civil War and the power struggle that existed after Lenin's death. In your opinion, did Stalin modernize Russia?
In the summer of 1918 the War communism policy was put in place in Russia. Which allowed ideas like compulsory labour to be brought, and private trade to be suppressed. Peasants were forced to give all their produce away except bare essentials. By 1921 Lenin realized that this was not a system of recovery so he brought in the NEP. Which permitted private trade, and also allowed peasants to sell their surplus, because of the NEP industries were able to recover. Lenin was shot, and was unable to recover, he died in 1924. There was a struggle between who should have the power in Russia Stalin or Trotsky. Stalin came up on top, following the slogan "Socialism in one country". Stalin was a monster enforcing rules like collectivization, and putting people on show trials. In some ways Stalin did modernized Russia, but for all the wrong reasons.
